2009 is almost over! It’s the first year of my life that really flew by in an instant. My memory hasn’t been what it ought to be since my chemically extravagant teenage years, so I especially enjoy end-of-the-year summary posts. Also, putting everything in perspective is an excellent way to plot for the future. This year we’re going to start slow, since I’m just now getting on the mend after what turned into a nearly month-long sickness. As some of you know, I’m a staff photographer over at Suicidegirls.com.

Every Wednesday until 2010 I’m going to post ten of my favorite photos from the thirty-something sets I had featured on the site this year. Think of it as a way to celebrate all the wonderful models I worked with over the past eleven months. Along with the images I’ll share two or three factoids from each shoot. We’ll start at the beginning of 2009 and, when we get to the end, we’ll stop. Onward, to the eye candy!

Cori – Afternoon Bubbles

• Cori is from Montreal
• She hated the way her hair looked that day, until it got wet
• My jeans got wet as well, from standing on the edges of the tub. Happens with every water set, as I’ve since learned.

Nixon – All Grown Up

• Nixon is a co-editor at Haute Macabre, also owner of incredibly blue eyes
• She showed up prepared with an entire rolling suitcase of supplies
• I did her hair on the fly right before shooting

Dixy – Violet in Hollywood

• Dixy is from the UK and she really loves metal \m/
• She was known on the site as a redhead, this was her first set with violet hair
• The hotel room where we shot had hideous yellow comforters – I brought mine

Coley – Burn Before Reading

• Coley is an avid dirt bike rider
• She also has excellent tomboy style
• Part of this set features a vintage typewriter and piles of books, which is loosely referenced in the title

Sawa – Oil Slick

• Sawa is a cinematographer and photographer here in LA
  
• Her wardrobe was supplied by Syren Latex
• This set was shot in her beautiful home

Chloe – The High Life

• Chloe is a firecracker and an expert model
  
• This is one of the multitude of sets from Las Vegas in February, during a week-long shoot for an upcoming SG DVD.
• We were fortunate enough to use the upstairs of club Body English

Nya – Rouge Baiser

• Nya is from France. She’s an artist.
• This set is a tribute to this vintage French lipstick ad
• Planned this shoot for months, but had no location in mind until we got there

AnnaMay – Eyes Wide

• The bathroom we shot in was tiny – she was the only model small enough to stand on top of the sink and toilet tank [HOT.]
• It was difficult to choose a shot to use in this post. I settled on this one, even though it’s a simple portrait, because I love AnnaMay’s piercings – they accentuate her awesome Gelfling face perfectly. Also, the rest  of my favorite shots from this set were extremely naked

Warning – Corporate Cannibal

• Warning is from Ohio
• The title is a tribute to Grace Jones
• Shot on the final day in Vegas. By this point in the trip I’d fallen victim to the horrible flu that got almost everyone

Rambo – Supah Fly

• Vegas set, shot at Lisa‘s sweet pad with a few of her friends watching and taking iPhone pictures
• Fnished in under thirty minutes because Rambo and I are a super-team when we work together
• I told Rambo to channel Tony Montana during the shoot. She did.
