I have a really great dark burgundy lipstick by Rimmel that’s great, but the colour will bleed if you don’t use a liner on it. It’s called Bordeaux shade 124 by Rimmel and it smells AMAZING, too. You can buy it at drugstores; I got mine at a CVS pharmacy. (i live in California)

I adore playing with eyelid colors and themes and always love seeing these make up tutorials. I do wonder though, the crease often gives me trouble… What type of brush would you recommend for the darkest part of this tutorial?

Zo, I adore your makeup tutorials, and even more, I love that you endorse independent make-up brands and drugstore brands that are inexpensive and widely available! There’s a lot of fancy-pants high-dolla make-up that I crave, but the fact is that I tend to lose many things smaller than a breadbox. A sad side effect of swinging my purse over my head while skipping down the street? Yeah, possibly. Well, it’s all replaceable and good thing it weren’t no $50 dollar lipgloss, neither. Love your skills, the fact that you share them, and that you make it accessible for the more practical, thrifty, and um – spazzy (!) macquillage enthusiasts among us.

Kate and Amandalee – I’ve thought about it, but haven’t figured out the best way to do it yet! One day, maybee.

Typhoid, it really sounds like the drama llama got the best of them, which is too bad. After 12 years of Aromaleigh, this is putting a gaping hole into many people’s shopping lists. As soon as I find someone comparable, I’ll let everyone know.

Melissa, that thing about thin lips and no dark lipstick is stupid. Think about the flappers! They actually made their lips appear smaller intentionally, to make their eyes look bigger. Go for it, I say!

Stepho, there is no reason to spend that much on mascara! Between this stuff and L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara, you’re set.

Rachel, thank you! I did it myself, sort-of. There were streaks in it from the salon visit ages ago, i let it fade into almost nothingness and then bleached it. Ta-da!

love this look! those eyeshadows look lovely…i’m a relatively recent convert to cover girl lash blast. i used to spend $20/tube on benefit “bad gal lash” which is great, but i think the cover girl is just as good if not better, at a fraction of the price!
