- Satoshi Kon, the brilliant creator of Paranoia Agent and Milennium Actress, died two weeks ago. He left behind a rambling, but interesting letter, shedding some light on his last days. The letter’s been translated from Japanese and is online, for now.

- Roger Ebert’s review for Joaquin Phoenix’ I’m Still Here. From the sound of things it’s definitely part of an elaborate piece of performance act, entertaining only to Phoenix.

Satoshi Kon’s letter made me cry. What an amazing man, right to the end.
(My father passed away at home from cancer, and he felt the same way — he very much wanted to get out of the hospital, and I’m very glad that he was able to.)

I had the same reaction. It also made me wish more people wrote letters like this, actually — I think if would help us all deal with death and illness a little more comfortably.
Some of the photos from The Sky Before Katrina remind me of the title sequence of The NeverEnding Story… am I the only one who thinks that?
I refuse to click those tumblrs…. fuckyeahwelshcorgis already takes up waaaaay too much of my time.
